Overseas Opportunities for RPCVs

Author: Glenn Blumhorst

I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to participate [in a redeployment opportunity], and I have NPCA to thank for that.

- Emily McGinnis, RPCV Peru

If you’re like me, you’ve longed to return to your country of service - Guatemala, in my case - and continue the work you began as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Now, through NPCA’s growing international programs, we are providing more opportunities for our Peace Corps community to redeploy on short-term assignments around the world.

What we’ve done:

We’ve sent over 25 RPCVs annually to Indonesia, Thailand, Peru, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico to provide capacity-building technical assistance to local NGOs, many founded or led by RPCVs.

We’ve deployed RPCVs to implement water and sanitation and micro-loan projects around the world through our partnership with Water Charity. We are on track to help bring water to everyone in Liberia by the end of 2020.

What we can do:

Starting in 2019, we will deploy dozens of RPCVs to Togo and The Gambia, to help lay the groundwork and implement our new Water for Everyone initiative, working with local organizations and our partner, Water Charity.

From Puerto Rico to Indonesia to the Gulf Coast, RPCVs are eager to respond to support communities in their recovery from natural disasters. NPCA will expand our international programs to send more RPCVs when crises arise.

Through your tax-deductible contribution, we can put more RPCVs on short-term assignments around the world:

$250 will provide pre-deployment support for one RPCV

$500 will provide one-way airfare for one RPCV to deploy on emergency response

$1,000 will support an RPCV for two weeks on an international or domestic assignment

PS We are currently recruiting RPCVs to serve on our Water for Everyone initiative in Togo and The Gambia, as well as agriculture and cooperative development assignments in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, and Mali. Contact us to learn more.
